Job Description


Cardinal Staffing is currently hiring a Sheeter Operator for a paperboard company located in Sandusky, OH 

 
SUMMARY Operate and adjust Sheeter and straight cutter to cut sheets of paper specified size and weight to maintain required quality and quantity of production; and receives raw material to specifications by performing the following duties.
 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  1.  Adheres to paperwork information per customer specs
    1. Accurately follows job bag information for each customer
    2. Correctly figures out needs for jobs being run using basic math skills
    3. Precisely inputs production information into the manufacturing software following work instructions and using basic computer knowledge
  2. Sets up sheeter/straight cutter in a timely matter for proper sheeting of raw material
    1. Places roll on roll stand in line with customer specs
    2. Sets sheeting machine to proper length and width in accordance with customer specs
    3. Gathers flat stock for ream cut jobs in accordance with customer specs
    4. Sets ream cutter to proper sizes in accordance with customer specs
  3. Runs job for production and follows job speed specs
    1. Operates Sheeter and observes as it runs
    2. Operates Straight Cutter and measures cut material with rule or compares to standard to verify conformance to specifications
    3. Makes adjustments to equipment used as needed to ensure proper stacking, quality and maximize speed
    4. Troubleshoots quality problems involving supervisor when needed
  4. Receives roll stock and follows material specs
    1. Inspects Rolls for quality and correct weights/color and verifies product to paperwork
    2. Operates Clamp Truck safely without damage to product and places Rolls for storage in the appropriate location
  5. Performs maintenance
    1. Completes machine maintenance according to maintenance schedule for Sheeter and Straight Cutter
    2. Performs maintenance on machines including dismantling and reassembling parts of the machine for servicing
    3. Notifies supervisor of reoccurring equipment malfunctions and of poor quality raw material
    4. Ensures Maintenance Log is up to date
    5. Ensures work area (including warehouse) is kept clean and organized: tools returned to place, floors free from debris
  6. Communicates as necessary with Plant Manager/Shift Supervisor, Purchasing and Office staff in an effective and professional manner to ensure smooth production, reduction of machine downtime and customer satisfaction.
 MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
