Cardinal Staffing is partnering with a top Automotive Components Company in the Saline area for a Direct Hire Quality Manager
POSITION SCOPE:  Performs a wide variety of quality tasks requiring thorough knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes. The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the plant in ensuring conformance to the quality system and for leading in its continual improvement.   DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  1. Establishes and maintains consistent quality operating procedures and documentation.
  2. Manages all quality reporting for timeliness and accuracy.
  3. Drives the quality system ensuring that procedures and practices are in place and being adhered to. Involvement in continuous improvement of these procedures and practices.
  4. Ensures quality system integrity by departmental involvement in APQP, customer and supplier issues.
  5. Manages the corrective action process ensuring a timely customer response; driving closure as well as ensuring the quality of the responses to prevent recurrence.
  6. Leads the coordination and submission of accurate PPAP documentation in a timely manner.
  7. Coordinates and maintains the metrology program.
  8. Leads the daily activities of the quality department to meet the above goals.

  10. Other duties or tasks as assigned or required.

Supports, coaches and mentors suppliers for continuous improvement for product quality, and on-time delivery. Responds in a timely manner and provides clear communication to build customer and supplier relationships (both internal and external customers). Ensures customer performance metrics are green. Infrequent visits from customers. 
  4. Communication – Communicates clearly and effectively with all team members (customer and plant). Works effectively with a variety of people with different personalities, and effectively leads projects to fruition. Listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions. Edits work for spelling and grammar; presents information clearly and is easily understood. 
  5. Organizational Support – Follows policies, procedures, work instructions and practices; completes administrative tasks accurately and on time.
  6. Adaptability – Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  7. Attendance/Punctuality – Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  8. Dependability – Follows instructions; responds to management direction; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  9. Judgment – Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision-making.

  12. Computer/Information Systems Skills – Demonstrates ability to use the tools available (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project) and able to find documents, policies, work instructions as required.

 JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
  1. Audit Performance – timeliness of responses; number of repeat findings
  2. PPAP – timeliness and accuracy (as determined by audit findings related to PPAP)
  3. Corrective Action – time to close – number of repeat issues
  4. Customer scorecard performance 
 EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post secondary education in quality (preference to CQE/CMQ will be given)
  • Minimum of 5 years quality management system experience 
  • Experienced with all aspects of APQP, hands on knowledge of PPAP process
  • Proven ability to review and analyze dimensional reports
  • Training and working knowledge on development of FMEA and control plans
  • Full understanding of SPC and ability to apply within manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of MSA
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
  • Quality auditing training and experience
  • Strong problem solving and reporting skills
  • Experience with Ford, GM, and Toyota systems would be an asset
  • Experience in lean manufacturing principles would be an asset
  • Strong leadership skills and a team player. 
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Persistent attention to detail.
  • Plastics background.
