Fabricator / Mechanic
Brownstown, MI
Day shift-$30 per hour BOE
Primary Purpose & FunctionCardinal Staffing is seeking a skilled and dependable Fabricator / Mechanic to support the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of high-performance automotive components and race vehicles. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, fabrication experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced motorsports and manufacturing environment. Candidates should be comfortable using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Brownstown, MI

Primary Purpose & FunctionCardinal Staffing is seeking a skilled and dependable Fabricator / Mechanic to support the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of high-performance automotive components and race vehicles. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, fabrication experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced motorsports and manufacturing environment. Candidates should be comfortable using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Perform fabrication, assembly, and mechanical repairs on race vehicles and automotive components
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Cut, grind, weld, and fit metal components to specifications
- Install and repair suspension, drivetrain, brake, steering, and chassis components
- Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, drill presses, and welding machines
- Perform MIG and TIG welding as needed
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete repairs efficiently
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
- Maintain clean and organized work areas while following safety procedures
- Assist with vehicle setup, testing, and performance modifications
- Work collaboratively with engineering, fabrication, and production teams
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and shop tools
- Previous fabrication and automotive mechanic experience required
- Experience with MIG/TIG welding preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of automotive systems, suspension, chassis, and drivetrain components
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Motorsports or performance vehicle experience is a plus
- Must be dependable with a stable work history
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing/shop environment
- Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools
- Automotive fabrication and performance racing environment
- Fast-paced shop setting with exposure to noise, machinery, and metal fabrication processes
- Safety equipment and PPE required at all times
