The Materials Manager is responsible for the management of material, transportation and inventory needs of the plant. Accountable for meeting monthly goals and analyzing the performance of each measurable, while administering the department in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Establish the data base parameters for Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and related production software systems.
Establish and maintain business practices, procedures and documentation that ensures control of supplier releases, incoming
material shipments, receiving documents, inventory levels, material storage and movement and shipments to the customer,
Manage and monitor the activities of subordinates accuracy and integrity of all materials related to record keeping.
Establish goals and action plans for continued reduction in the cost of transportation, package handling, piece price and
Monitor and measure supplier performance to ensure compliance with established quality and delivery standards.
Oversea employee training.
Document & Analyze material movement and use.
Develop and implement continuous improvement ideas.
Maintain inventory accuracy and turnover.
Establish safe practices for moving material throughout the plant floor.
Work cohesively with other departments to meet customer's demands.
Modify process and procedures to reduce waste and increase throughput.
Minimize inventory levels on balance out parts and when appropriate, submit an obsolescence claim.
Maintain excellent customer relations including supplier delivery performance.
Other duties deemed necessary by the Plant Manager.

Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in materials/logistics flow analysis and supply management with emphasis in Materials Management. Knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) or equivalent. 5 years experience, preferred at a Tier 1 supplier and/or OEM in assembly material handling/logistics and plan layout. Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and be able to supervise people.
Familiar with part sequencing, kiting, bar coding and importance of safe material handling principles. Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and computer skills.
