Machine Shop Technician (Honing, Testing & Facility Support)
Location: Brownstown, MI
Schedule: Full-Time | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Reports To: Shop Supervisor / Production Manager

Job SummaryWe are seeking a dependable Machine Shop Technician to perform honing operations, complete product testing, and support overall machine shop and facility cleanliness. This hands-on role is ideal for someone mechanically inclined, detail-focused, and comfortable working in an industrial shop environment.Key ResponsibilitiesHoning Operations
- Operate honing machines following all specifications and work instructions.
- Safely load and unload parts with accuracy and efficiency.
- Monitor honing processes to ensure correct dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Perform basic machine adjustments and report issues or abnormalities promptly.
- Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures.
- Perform mechanical testing of hydraulic cylinders to check pressure retention and leaks.
- Use precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Record test results accurately and communicate non-conforming parts.
- Assist with quality inspections to ensure all products meet required specifications.
- Wash and stamp all cylinders according to standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of the machine shop, including floors, equipment areas, and common spaces.
- Dispose of waste, scrap, and used fluids according to safety and environmental guidelines.
- Refill supplies and help organize tools, materials, and storage areas.
- Sweep and mop office floors daily.
- Support overall shop safety by keeping walkways and work areas clear.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial setting.
- Manufacturing/machine shop environment with exposure to machinery, noise, oils, and metal components.
- PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.).
- Must use an iPad to clock in/out of jobs and log testing results, including cylinder photos.
