Woodard Job Description Job Title: Cut/Sew/Utility
SUMMARY All operations involved in cutting fabric, sewing, stuffing, inspecting cushions by performing the following duties. All department personnel in this category may perform some or all duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Works from verbal and written instructions and production schedules to perform job duties. Places cut panels in racks for use by sewers. Sews upholstery panels together, including sewing around welt cord. Makes buttons for cushions. Stuffs sewn cushion covers with polyester filling either by hand or using stuffing machine. Sews together open end of cushions after they have been stuffed. May be required to sew decorative stitching through stuffed cushions. Cuts off any excess thread from cushion. Operate heat seal machine to make slings by placing in correct die. Cut excess material from sling. Inspects the cushion for acceptable quality. Determines if cushions/slings go to Assembly or are boxed through JDE system Track orders through the dispatch screen. Places cushion in plastic wrap and seals. Scan pick slips and label boxes. Makes tight seats by placing fill and fabric over cut seat and staples to bottom. Follows safety rules and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. MAThEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
