Job Description

Cardinal Staffing has partnered with a leading metal stamping facility in Canton, MI! As the top employer in the area, we offer weekly pay and other amazing employee benefits!This position is primarily responsible for operating a sit-down electric forklift to move and stack bulk materials safely and efficiently, while maintaining organization.DETAILS:
  • $18+/hr
  • 1st shift – 7:00am-3:30pm M-F (OT, as needed: 5:00am-3:30pm)
  • 2nd shift – 4:00pm-12:30am M-F (OT, as needed: 4:00pm-2:00am)
  • Overtime on Saturdays, as needed: 5:00am-11:00am (OT hours subject to change)
 REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have 5 years’ hilo experience
  • Must have operated a hilo professionally within the last year
  • Resume required
  • Steel toe boots/shoes required – all other PPE will be provided
  • Must pass a hilo evaluation at the facility
  • Automotive plant experience preferred
***2nd shift operators must be comfortable helping out in the stamping press area approximately half of the time. You will start out with a split wage, depending on how long you are working in either department. Any questions regarding this can be answered at the walkthrough/hilo evaluation*** JOB DUTIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Be punctual in reporting to your workstation everyday at the beginning of the shift and after breaks
  • Follow all safety procedures, which include: Daily Inspections, Forklift Operation, wearing PPE, and proper wearing of company uniforms
  • Plan workflow of materials to production processes and storage locations to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Responsible for the correct use and care of company-provided tools, such as radio, tablet, scanner, etc.
  • Maintain organization in all areas of the plant where items are usually handled by forklift, and follow designated guidelines, where present. Including fasteners, wood pallets, totes, lids, etc.
  • Empty trash and scrap hoppers
  • Consolidate and organize WIP totes, as needed. Ensure product is not mixed on a pallet and stored in the proper location, including leftover totes in welding.
  • Ensure oldest inventory is used first by rotating stock to assist in First-In First-Out (FIFO) compliance
  • Notify the Production Control Department regarding inventory concerns of product or containers
  • Collect and distribute empty containers, pallets, lids, and store in designated areas
  • Report any damage to product, building, or equipment to ensure corrective measures can be taken to ensure safety and quality
  • Connecting the charger for electric forklift during 30-minute break and end of shift
  • Assist with loading/unloading trucks, as requested
  • Other duties that may fall within the physical demands
