QC Weld Inspector
Job Description
Cardinal Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented QC Weld Inspector to ensure all welding activities align with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.
Position SummaryThe QC Weld Inspector is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and documenting welding operations to ensure compliance with established codes, standards, and specifications. This role requires strong technical knowledge of welding processes, materials, and quality control procedures.
Key Responsibilities· Inspect welds, joints, and materials to ensure compliance with applicable codes (AWS, ASME, ISO, etc.) and customer requirements.· Verify welding procedures, and equipment calibration before production.· Perform visual inspections and, when required, coordinate NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or dye penetrant testing.· Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.· Document inspection results, prepare reports, and maintain quality records.· Monitor welding processes on the shop floor to ensure adherence to WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).· Identify non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and verify rework or repairs.· Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.· Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality assurance programs.
Qualifications· High school diploma or equivalent (technical school or associate degree preferred).· AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.· Knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.) and materials.· Experience interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications.· Previous quality inspection experience in a welding or fabrication environment.· Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.· Good written and verbal communication skills.· Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment.Physical Requirements· Ability to stand, bend, and move around fabrication areas for extended periods.· Lift up to 50 lbs as needed.· Work in various environmental conditions (shop floor, outdoors).
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday 8am-4:30PM OT as needed
