Job Description
Job Title: Metal Inspection Technician Job Summary:The Metal Inspection Technician is responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality of metal parts, components, and assemblies to ensure they meet customer specifications and industry standards. This role involves using precision measuring instruments, visual inspection techniques, and documentation systems to identify defects and ensure consistent product quality.

- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of metal parts, components, and assemblies.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, height gauges, and CMM equipment to verify part dimensions.
- Inspect for defects including cracks, burrs, rust, dents, weld imperfections, and surface finish inconsistencies.
- Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and quality standards to determine inspection requirements.
- Record inspection results accurately and complete required quality documentation.
- Tag and isolate nonconforming material; communicate findings to supervisors or engineers for further action.
- Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Follow company quality standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or customer-specific requirements).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as required to move inspected parts.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications preferred.
- Previous experience in metal inspection, quality control, or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM).
- Knowledge of GD&T principles is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills for recording and tracking data.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Bending, reaching, and handling parts throughout the shift.
- Use of safety equipment and compliance with all safety procedures.
