Job Description
Job Summary:Our client in Madison Heights, MI, is seeking an experienced Forklift Driver. They will be responsible for verifying incoming shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing them against bills of lading or packing slips. Ensures accurate receipt, documentation, and inspection of goods while following all safety and quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Unload incoming shipments and load outbound trucks as required.
- Inspect incoming articles for damage or defects; sort materials based on the severity of defects.
- Apply green certification stickers to approved items.
- Unpack shipments manually or using equipment such as hand trucks or dollies.
- Compare packing slips and other paperwork to physical shipments to ensure accuracy.
- Make copies of required documents (e.g., packing slips) and distribute to appropriate departments.
- Scan received materials into the inventory management system.
- Notify the Receiving Supervisor immediately of any discrepancies in shipments.
- Alert the Quality Receiving Inspector if any items received are on the non-certified list; place such items in the “Waiting Inspection” area.
- Examine all received items for visible damage before processing.
- Sign and submit receiving paperwork in accordance with company procedures.
- Conduct daily forklift inspections and complete required safety checklists.
- Participate in regular inventory counts, either weekly or as directed.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping and receiving area at all times.
- Follow all QS9000, TS/ISO 16949, EMS, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 policies and procedures.
- Adhere to customer-specific requirements, including the completion of all applicable training mandated by Adient and its customers.
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid forklift certification (OSHA-compliant)
- Prior forklift experience preferred (sit-down, stand-up, or pallet jack)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- Basic math and reading skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a team
- Flexible availability for shifts, overtime, or weekends
