Position Overview
Our client in Roseville, MI is seeking a dependable and skilled Foam NC Machinist with 3–5 years of experience to join our fast-paced prototype and production environment. This role is critical to the manufacturing of high-precision foam components, patterns, and molds supporting aerospace and general production programs. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership of their work, is highly organized, and is eager to grow within the foam machining group.This position requires hands-on expertise with 3- and 5-axis CNC machines, balancing rapid R&D prototyping with low-rate production runs in a dynamic manufacturing setting. Position Overview

Core Responsibilities
- Create setup and tooling sheets to support operators with machine setup on Thermwood routers
- Manage production run jobs alongside operators, answering questions and ensuring quality requirements are met.
- Execute one-off experimental prototype parts and efficiently transition to low-volume production runs.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD models, and CAM files.
- Perform at-machine G-code edits to optimize toolpaths, feeds, and speeds specific to foam machining.
- Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Ensure parts meet tight dimensional and quality requirements.
- Provide real-time Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to engineering teams to improve part producibility and resolve machining challenges.
- Design and fabricate custom fixtures and work-holding solutions to support complex foam geometries.
- Perform daily machine maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an NC/CNC Machinist.
- Experience operating large-format CNC routers and milling centers.
- At least 1 year of hands-on foam machining experience.
- Working knowledge of Visi programming software.
- Experience in prototype and/or production machining environments.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Vocational training or CNC certification preferred.
