Job Description
Our client in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking a detail-oriented Floor Inspector to support quality operations on the production floor. This role is responsible for performing in-process inspections, leak testing, weld inspections, and verifying product quality using various hand tools, gauges, and inspection equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure that all parts meet customer and company quality standards while working closely with production teams. Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections on manufactured parts to ensure compliance with specifications
- Conduct leak testing on components and assemblies to verify integrity and performance
- Perform weld inspections to ensure conformance to quality and safety standards
- Use inspection tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring devices
- Identify and document non-conforming parts, and support containment and corrective actions
- Work directly on the production floor to monitor quality throughout the manufacturing process
- Support rework and sorting activities to maintain product quality
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications (if applicable)
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation
- Communicate quality issues to supervisors and production teams in a timely manner
- Follow all safety and quality procedures
- Previous experience in floor inspection / quality inspection in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with leak testing and weld inspection preferred
- Proficient with inspection tools, gauges, and measuring equipment
- Ability to identify defects and ensure compliance with quality standards
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in automotive or manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of ISO standards or quality systems
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and GD&T
- Experience with continuous improvement or root cause analysis
