The Cut & Etch Technician is responsible for preparing and analyzing metal samples to ensure product quality and compliance with customer specifications. This role involves operating specialized cutting and etching equipment, following safety standards, and documenting inspection results to support quality assurance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cut-off saws, sectioning machines, and grinding/polishing equipment to prepare metal samples.
- Perform chemical etching and cleaning procedures to reveal material structure for analysis.
- Use grit blasting equipment and hand tools to prepare parts for further processing.
- Inspect and evaluate etched samples for defects, grain structure, weld penetration, and material properties.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and material usage.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality inspectors, and production teams to resolve quality issues.
- Conduct routine maintenance on cut & etch equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
- Follow strict safety, environmental, and handling procedures when working with chemicals and tools.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, quality inspection, or laboratory environment preferred.
- Knowledge of grinding, polishing, deburring, and etching processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- Forklift and First Aid certification a plus.
