About the Role
Our client in Sterling Heights is seeking a reliable and detailed-oriented CMM Programmer to join our team in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that components and assemblies meet strict dimensional and quality standards through CMM programming and advanced 3D scanning technologies.

This role is responsible for ensuring that components and assemblies meet strict dimensional and quality standards through CMM programming and advanced 3D scanning technologies.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, edit, and run CMM programs using PC-DMIS
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on automotive components
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements
- Support new program launches and engineering changes
- Prepare dimensional reports for PPAP submissions
- Operate blue light scanning equipment for full 3D inspection and analysis
- Perform CAD-to-part comparisons and generate deviation reports
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5 Whys)
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams
- Maintain calibration records and ensure measurement accuracy
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or related field
- 2–5+ years of CMM programming experience (automotive preferred)
- Strong experience with PC-DMIS
- Experience with blue light or structured light scanning systems
- Solid understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading
- Experience supporting PPAP, APQP, and automotive quality requirements
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with 3D inspection software (e.g., GOM Inspect)
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 standards
- Experience working with OEM or Tier 1 suppliers
- Knowledge of SPC and MSA
