Job Description

An automobile part supplier in Monroe, MI is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Assistant to join their finance team.  This position will help support those responsible for overseeing and managing the efficient and accurate processing of all accounts receivable transactions within the company.
Position is temp-to-hire 1st shift, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday, with a starting pay of $16-18 based on experience.
Responsibilities
  • Process and monitor incoming payments through various channels, including electronic transfers, checks, and credit card transactions.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure accuracy of billing and collections.
  • Prepare detailed journal entries for receivables, deposits, and adjustments in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Collaborate with sales teams and clients to resolve billing discrepancies through effective negotiation and communication.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all transactions using accounting software such as SAP, or similar system.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures related to accounts receivable and support audit requests involving SOX compliance.
  • Support the revenue cycle management process by verifying CPT coding, ICD-10 codes, and other medical billing requirements when applicable.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify overdue accounts and develop strategies for collection efforts.
  • Perform account reconciliation regularly to ensure data integrity across financial systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries regarding billing status or payment issues via phone or email.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in accounts receivable functions within a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms; familiarity with Quicken is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance standards and governmental or non-profit accounting is advantageous.
  • Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail for data entry and account analysis tasks.
  • Ability to perform 10 key typing accurately at a high speed; familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical billing processes is desirable for healthcare-related roles.
  • Strong negotiation skills paired with effective phone etiquette for resolving billing disputes professionally.
  • Familiarity with financial software used in revenue cycle management and healthcare settings is preferred.
