Machine Builder – Pre-Assembly
Location: Grand Ledge, MI
Shift/Hours: 1st Shift (Mon – Fri, 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
Pay: $22.00 – $25.00/hr
Cardinal Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Machine Builder – Pre-Assembly professional to support a client in the manufacturing industry located in Grand Ledge, MI. This role focuses on assembling high-quality sub-assemblies that feed into final machine builds. If you have strong mechanical skills, experience reading blueprints, and are comfortable navigating ERP systems, we’d love to connect with you.

Cardinal Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Machine Builder – Pre-Assembly professional to support a client in the manufacturing industry located in Grand Ledge, MI. This role focuses on assembling high-quality sub-assemblies that feed into final machine builds. If you have strong mechanical skills, experience reading blueprints, and are comfortable navigating ERP systems, we’d love to connect with you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and tolerancing standards
- Disassemble, tag, and prepare components for shipping; assist with equipment loading
- Use your personal tool set to carry out mechanical builds
- Look up parts by job numbers within the ERP/MRP system to ensure accuracy
- Track inventory and locate components needed for jobs
- View work orders and job schedules through the ERP system to manage daily tasks
- Log and update assembly progress to maintain workflow visibility
- Use basic precision measurement tools to ensure proper fit and tolerances
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2–4 years of experience in machine building or mechanical assembly
- Strong mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading skills
- Experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- ERP/MRP system experience required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Must provide and use your own mechanical tool set, including but not limited to:
- Standard and metric wrenches
- Socket set and ratchets
- Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead)
- Allen wrenches/hex keys
- Pliers (needle nose, adjustable, etc.)
- Adjustable wrench
- Torque wrench
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Pressure gauges
- Hammer/mallet
- Tape measure
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures and moderate noise
